Hysterical Historical Patents to Modern Day Madness
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
Prepare to see absurdity stretched to the nth degree in this presentation by Janet Berkeley, who will show you some of the nuttiest patents ever to be granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office. You’ll see weird, wacky and down-right silly devices for people and pets, including an interest paying piggy bank, a 25 hour clock, apparatus for simulating a high five and what every household needs - a walking barrel for bullfighting.

Do you need a jumpstart for creating or tweaking your personal, household budget? Are you overwhelmed, frustrated or confused about even where to start? Let author and budget consultant Judy Lawrence share her 20 plus years of sitting at the kitchen table with hundreds of individuals and couples of all ages and income levels. She will walk you through the three basic cornerstones of setting up a clear and complete budget that works - using the worksheets from her workbook: The Budget Kit. You will learn how to know exactly where your money is going, how to anticipate where you want it to go and how to make that happen. Originally presented at the Sunnyvale Public Library on Tuesday, January 13, 2009.

P.G. Wodehouse (1881-1975), beloved British humorist and novelist, poked fun at the British aristocracy and won fans around the world. On January 8, 2009, members of the local chapter of the Wodehouse Society came to the Sunnyvale Public Library to talk about the author and perform an adapted version of one of his short stories.
